A Little Flicker

Whatta Crock was established in 1999 as a home based business by Kim and David Lawerence. After a successful run of craft shows (which they won best of show at Buy Kansas First in 2003)  home shows, corporate orders, and selling their crocks in the retail market David and Kim had to regretfully sell their beloved business due to Kim’s debilitating foot disease in 2006.

Passing on the Torch

After getting married in 2006 David and Rebecca Siebert decided to buy WhattaCrock from the Lawerences. Even since then the Siebert’s have enjoyed their home business in Wichita Kansas. Whatta Crock candles whether  pre-made or custom built make great gifts for Christmas, graduations, birthdays, thank-you gifts, retirement gifts, advertisements, weddings presents or just to enjoy in your home.

 David Siebert is Kansas bred through and through. Born to two Mennonite pastors in Inman  Kansas. He has appreciated what the U.S had to offer for he has lived in such states as Ohio and Pen.  as his family has traveled from parish to parish. David and his family settled in Newton where he attended college at Bethel and worked for MPI a dairy processing plant. After graduating with an art degree he moved to Wichita where he has held such occupations as a photographer assistant, worked for an Internet business, has managed rentals and office complexes and currently has his real estate license. Out of all the occupations David likes working with crocks the best because “I like trying new techniques with the clay, glaze and paints.”

Rebecca is a Kansas sunflower true and true being born in Topeka. She graduated from Emporia State University with a degree in Special Education Elementary Education. Once she graduated from Emporia State University she moved to Wichita Kansas to teach Special Ed. which she did for 3 years. Then she has held such occupations as working for a vet., managing a shoe department, and was a professional photographer. She dreams of being a professional writer and her book series being bigger then Harry Potter and the Twilight series combined. With the money she makes she wants to open a performing arts school for kids in lower social economic status and kids in foster care.

She loves working with David in Whatta Crock because she feels like a “mad scientist” when she is creating new scents. She also feels a great sense of accomplishment when the finished product sits right in front of her.

Rebecca and David run the business from their home in Wichita, Kansas which they share with 4 cats ,one dog & a new baby.
